| Abstract: | Abstract:. The use of microblogging as a technological tool has risen to be used by students to overcome writing difficulties. For this reason, this research work has the objective of improving EFL writing skills through microblogging, motivating students to write, and creating awareness of the importance of using microblogging at the time to write. This study was carried out in a private secondary school in the city of Loja, Ecuador. The method was based on mixed method research, which is a methodology that combines qualitative and quantitative approaches. Furthermore, instruments as tests, questionnaires, and observation sheets were applied to twelve students at the beginning and the end of the instructional process implemented by the researcher. The results indicated that students achieved a significant improvement in writing texts, increased their motivation to write, and created awareness about using microblogging to improve their writing abilities. |
| Description: | Resumen: El uso del microblogging como herramienta tecnológica ha sido escogida para ser utilizada con el fin hacer que los estudiantes superen sus dificultades a la hora de escribir textos. Por esta razón, este trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivos mejorar las habilidades de escritura de inglés como lengua extranjera a través del microblogging, motivar a los estudiantes a escribir y crear conciencia sobre la importancia de usar microblogging a la hora de mejorar sus habilidades de escritura. Este estudio se llevó a cabo en una institución secundaria privada de la ciudad de Loja, Ecuador y el método considerado útil para desarrollar esta investigación fue el método mixto, que es una metodología que combina enfoques cualitativos y cuantitativos. Además, se aplicaron instrumentos como pruebas, cuestionarios y hojas de observación a doce estudiantes al inicio y al final del proceso instruccional realizado por el investigador. Los resultados indicaron que los estudiantes lograron una mejora significativa en la escritura de textos, aumentaron su motivación para escribir y crearon conciencia sobre el uso del microblogging para mejorar sus habilidades de escritura. |
